morton betts

Lancaster’s own Morton Betts are turning up the volume and tearing up the rulebook with a raucous blend of rock, punk, and all things alternative. With a sound that's raw, energetic, and gloriously unfiltered, the four-piece are putting their own fresh spin on the UK alt scene. At the heart of the band are songwriting duo Jack Taylor and Niall Graham, whose inventive approach to genre keeps things deliciously unpredictable. They’re joined on stage by the thunderous drumming of Liam Santon and Joe Lewis’ irresistibly groovy basslines, delivering a live show that’s as sweaty and electric as a packed pub on a Friday night. Their single Mastiff is a punchy tale about a pub-dwelling conspiracy theorist, the self-proclaimed “big dog”, set in a fictional boozer known as The River Taviera, the setting for their debut album. Expect a cast of oddballs, misfits, and tall tales, all wrapped in gritty post-punk attitude and swaggering rock 'n' roll. Originally formed as a duo in 2022 with a six-track EP, Morton Betts have since grown into a formidable live outfit. Named after the chap who scored the first-ever FA Cup goal back in 1872, Morton Betts are loud, bold, and just the kind of band you'd send a postcard about—if the ink didn’t run from spilled lager first.
